PE vs IBANKING

I know this topic has been addressed already many many times on this forum, but let's start her up again....

1. Is the move from ibanking to PE over-rated?

2. When is the best time to move into PE with ibanking background?

3. If lifestyle is better, and pay is the same, if not better, why some stick it out to VP or partner? Is it that they really love what they are doing?

4. Is it true that the PE boys are kings, as bankers are really just brokers. How does the sucking up and political game look like with the directors, and the investment committee ?

5. How is it on the buy-side in terms of due diligence... is it really boring or actually interesting ?

HBS Round 1

Did anyone receive an interview invite for HBS Round 1 so far? I haven't heard of anyone in PE or Banking receiving an invite this year to date.

PE Undergrad Hiring

Do any PE shops recruit undergrads besides BX?

If so, do any of them (besides BX) offer summer internships?

Where would these shops rank relative to top BB banks (MS, GS, etc) and top boutique banks (Greenhill, Moelis, etc) in terms of prestige, compensation, B school admissions, and other exit opportunities?

PE Analyst Case Interview

I just got called in for a first round interview with Audax Private Equity. Has anyone been through their interviews and does anyone have any advice? I assume it will be partially case based. Does anyone have any suggestions about case questions in general? I have the vault guide but it is about 400 pages and I have 2 days... Help!

PE from Post-MBA Consulting

Hey Guys,

So it's pretty established that BA/Assc entering MBB from undergrad have a decent shot at PE at the mega funds. What about post-mba candidates (say with previous mm banking experience)?

Is it simliar to banking, where analysts have a good shot but associates don't have the same exit opps? Like to hear thoughts from both PE (especially from consulting) and Consultants...

Blackstone PE UK applications

Hi,

I am wondering whether anyone on this board is applying to Blackstones UK office for a FT position next year and heard back from them yet. The deadline passed a while ago and either the whole HR department went on vacation or they're burried under a cv avalanche... ,)
