What web site do you guys use to follow the markets? I predominently use yahoo finance but I see people on this site leaning more towards bloomberg/ reueters etc. Just wondering if yahoo sucks (and why) and if I need to be on something else.

I'm a first-year analyst with a basic knowledge of Finance (not coming from a finance background, taken some basic intro classes (stat, econ, acct., finance), work with financial information/accounting). I just started studying for the CFA last week for the Dec 2010 Level 1 Exam. What's the best way to prepare given my timeline (about 3 months)? What materials did you use (Kaplan, Stalla, flashcards, other)? How much time should I put in (I work 40-50 hrs/wk)? Any thoughts?

What the hell is going on with this Twitter feed on every page? Is anyone else getting pop-ups asking for a user name and password to log-in?

It is driving me absolutely nuts and is pretty much the reason I haven't been posting over the last few days...yeah, stop clapping a-holes.

Just want to know if anyone else was experiencing the same problem and if there is a solution?

just an fyi, we just installed a new Tracker module to the site which is why you might see a bit of difference under the "Recent" menu item: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/tracker

Positives:

1. xtracker was slowing the site load speed down, this one should be much faster

2. easily can toggle between all recent content, and content you've commented on/ participated in

3. you can now jump to any "new" comments you haven't read in a specific post. we had this before but lost it in our last upgrade to Drupal 6.

Slight negative:
1. can't toggle between content types (dont think anyone used this anyways)

What's the point of joining the WSO facebook group? I see no value-added. Let's brainstorm. Perhaps we could designate ambassadors from certain colleges? Have college chapters of WSO (I don't know...)

Hey guys, we've had an increase in spammers that feel inclined to drop some spammy comment and annoying irrelevant links.

I'm spending a bit too much time combing through the forums deleting this shit so was hoping I could enlist a few more mods to help me with the clean up.

I would prefer to see users that have reached Baboon status and shown maturity.

I live in Providence, RI and I was interested in setting up a study group for CFA Level 1 , December 2010. I have a flexible schedule and access to a conference room 24/7.

I have benefited a lot from here and was wondering if I can? Or is WSO doing quite well and should use that money for some charity?

I was thinking it would be convenient for newcomers to the site if we had a sort of "Getting started at WSO" tips for new users. Obviously, I think the site is very well put together when I log on I know where I want to click and what I want to access.

But maybe after a new user registers, they could be greeted 5/10 suggested threads that provide quality information or some form of a tour/guide to making their way around the site. Not that isn't user friendly, but I feel it would be more welcoming to attracting and keeping new users.

Maybe some suggested clicks to get them started. Just thinking out loud here..

For some reason the resume subforum isn't loading properly for me. The list of threads does not show up and instead the forum topics section is the leading feature. I've had this problem on three completely different computers. Is this happening to anyone else?
