Pay path for Morgan Stanley Operations
If I choose to take an analyst position at MS Ops and stick with it for the long term, how fast would my pay go up? I know it's definitely not front-office pay, but I just wanna compare if I would make more in Ops or Big4 in the long term.
Goldman Sachs Operations hiring status
About 40 students interviewed at the Goldman Sachs Salt Lake City office a couple of weeks ago... initially they were told that results will be out around Dec 1st, but last week some people got a phone call saying that it won't be until the beginning of January will they hear back, while some were out right rejected.
It was announced in June of 2008 that the Operations division in Salt Lake City will expand by 100% (doubling from 350 to 700 employees). According to students who asked about this, the interviewers maintain that while they do have plans to cut that hiring by a little bit, the big picture won't change.
I got a Citi Ops offer....
I got the offer yesterday. Then today a VP who interviewed me called me and told me I was their top ranked interviewee, and offered to take me out and such. Is this common, or do they call everyone that has an offer and tell them that? Also, will this guarantee I'll atleast be in a good route in Ops?
It sucks I have a 3.4 with a trading internship background from Stern, I'm extremely knowledgable about the markets, but a 3.4 isn't going to get you a front office trading, so I think I'm stuck with this.
I mean its not bad, and the pay is good, so I'm happy what I got with this environment. But when they tell you you were one of the best, it kind of makes me feel like I could've done better job wise.
Citi Ops Superday
I have a superday interview with Citi for ops next friday. I've never done a superday before. How does it work? More specifically, has anyone done the Citi ops superday? What did they ask you? What was the format? Etc..
Why Operations?
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had a good answer to this question. And yes, I understand that if you need to ask a message board, you probably shouldn't work in the position. To preempt this response, you are very likely right. Nevertheless, I have thought about it for quite some time, and besides the usual BS (I want to learn about the core business, various products offered by the firm, analytical mindset, etc.)I cannot come up with a worthwhile response. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
JPM Finance Analyst or Citi Operations?
I'm in a bit of an offer quandry.
1. I currently have an offer with JPMorgan in their Finance Analyst Development Program in Delaware (ugh).
2. I'm 90% sure I have a 2nd round interview with Citi for their operations program.
3. I'm waiting to hear back, interview-wise, from BlackRock for their trading and analytics analyst position in their Solutions Center.
How would you rank the above positions in terms of salary, ability to advance not only within the division, but to a more prestigious role in the company (Not all the way to IBD, but maybe trading.)? Also, if I took the JPM position, I'd be looking to get out of Delaware ASAP.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
