mentioning connection in cover letter
I'm applying to an MBB and have a good relation with a partner in an office that I'm not applying to. Would it be appropriate to mention that I've been in correspondence with him in my cover letter?
Thanks for the advice
Advice Please
Hey everyone- I'm a senior at an ivy (HYP) and have received an offer from a small economic/litigation consulting firm (think a tiny version of LECG) where I did a summer internship. The downside is that I didn't particularly like the work there, and the exit ops seemed geared heavily towards law school. I'm more interested in going to bschool after a few years. I interviewed with MBB (where I'd ideally like to be), got to final rounds with two of the three, but neither worked out. Ditto with some of the second-tier strategy firms. Consulting just may be worse this year than banking; I heard a lot of MBB offices are cutting back drastically on first-year hiring, and smaller competitors are toast.
McKinsey second round (Non US office)
Hey guys,
Can anyone share some insight on McK second round interviews? Are they harder than the first round or should I expect the same more or less? Did you guys feel you were grilled more since this was the final round and given by principals/partners? Are cases, for example, harder to solve and talk about?
Thanks in advance!

MBB during downturn
How are MBB going to hold up in the downturn? any news on layoffs/reduced hiring?
Clothing for consulting (for a girl)
I've been reading a lot about clothing on the i-banking board. Those people are obsessed! (No offense.)
What should I buy to prepare for a summer as an associate at MBB on the West Coast of the US?
