Obama
Ladies' Night At The SEC
Mary Schapiro, the first woman ever to be nominated for the position, will head up the SEC as Obama's latest appointment.
But there are some questions as to the strength Schapiro could muster to bust some skulls over at SEC HQ and get that ship back on course. After some recent high-profile screw-ups, most notably letting Bernie Madoff run amok for so many years, there are calls for a disciplinarian in the position.

Could the creator of cutesy advocacy group like FINRA really do the position justice?
Peter Schiff: Love Him Or Hate Him?
Peter Schiff's recent emergence on the national economic stage has been quite a polarizing event. You either love him or hate him. You may have seen Schiff's latest YouTube viral video exploring how he predicted our current economic crisis all those years ago. He defended his positions on-air while being attacked by Ben Stein and Art Laffer, who both believed things would not get this bad.
Schiff has also been very vocal against Obama in recent weeks for his new economic plans. Keep in mind, this is coming from the man who served as economic advisor to Ron Paul in his 2008 campaign. Make of that what you will. As an accomplished author and president of Euro Pacific Capital brokerage firm, Schiff sticks very closely to the sometimes unpopular Austrian School of Economics.
Taking all of this into account, the real question here is what side of the Peter Schiff fence do you fall on?
Geithner, Romer, And Summers - Best Team Ever?
Obama just got finished officially announcing his new economic Dream Team. As we all know, Tim Geithner will be the new secretary treasury (and he skateboards, isn't that ,like, totally rad or something?), Larry Summer will serve as his top economic advisor (probably said 'No' to the Treasury job, right?), and Christina Romer will head the Council Of Economic Advisors (Obama is a big fan of her Great Depression knowledge, which will surely come in handy.)
The NYTimes Biz Section did a solid liveblog of the announcements. So, what do you think, best team ever?
And So It Begins...
As I prepare for my self-imposed tax exile beginning with an eight-hour plane ride tomorrow, I couldn't resist adding this tidbit to the "Be Careful What You Wish For" file:

And so it begins. As if it didn't suck bad enough to live in NYC already.
Down to the Wire
So it's the night before what is being called the most important election of our lifetime, and I was sitting here wondering what the candidates are doing on the Eve before they learn their fate. Surely they won't be sleeping much, so what do you think they're doing to keep themselves busy?
Maybe McCain is surfing for p*rn.
Maybe Obama is trying on his wife's evening gowns.
Maybe McCain is prank calling Biden.
Maybe Obama is singing "These Boots are Made for Walking" on his karaoke machine.
Maybe McCain is looking up Monica Lewinsky's number.
Maybe Obama is updating his MySpace page.
Ok, so maybe McCain IS sleeping....
Democrats hate wealth
The dems are so confident of an Obama victory that they're not even being coy. Barney Frank, the Massachusetts liberal who heads the house financial services committee, said explicitly that the rich would be punished through higher taxes that will pay for more government programs. It's interesting that the dems always whine about the deficit under Bush but apparently have no problem with the deficit if it's used for their programs. There is no doubt that democrats, with Obama as president, will punish wealth and success.

Obama presidency: Government on steroids
If Obama wins, with a solid liberal majority in congress, get ready for the biggest expansion of federal government since the failed Great Society, which was responsible for much of this nation's problems in the 60's and 70's. Those of you making six figures will be brutally punished for your success, as Obama wants to redistribute income by giving your hard earned money to lazy poor people and welfare queens. The Wall Street Journal has a great article on this.
