job
ahhhhhhhhh
Okay, so I am in a little life dilemma and could use some opinions. Here is a little info about myself: I currently am a senior at a top 15 ranked undergrad business school. However, I did little to no work over the course of my 4 years here and have a GPA a little over 3.0. Two summers ago I managed to get an internship in private wealth management at a large bank through connections. This past summer I got an internship in securities at one of the two remaining former (strictly) investment banks, again through connections. Without a full time job offer, I am stranded up a dried up creek without a paddle, boat, or civilization within a million miles.
How many people do you know that have successfully..
1) Switched jobs in the past 3-6 months
2) Found a new job after being laid off in the past 3-6 months
Also, is there gonna be any real recruitment activity in the next couple of weeks ? Or should I take that long-overdue vacation and come back Jan 2nd ?
Name vs. Experience
What matters more as far as an entry level job goes, name and prestige of the firm or the experience. I have two offers from firms that are not even in the same sector or industry. One offer is with a leading government contracting company, however the work is not challenging (overqualified) but the name is big and there are definite opportunities to advance. The second offer comes from a smaller firm in the oil/energy industry, but it is a front office role and I will be exposed to many things and the opportunities to advance are great.
any help would be appreciated
Need Help Finding New Job
Good morning,
I work at a hedge fund and we just went through a round of layoffs and salary reductions. I am still employed, albeit at a salary that is less than 50% of my original salary. The point being, I need to find a new job.
I am a May 2008 undergrad graduate and I used my school's career services department to get all prior internships and my current full-time position.
Does anybody have a list of the legit headhunters? Any recommendations for job searching? As they say, the new Ferrari and Rolex is health insurance and a desk...so all is not lost, but I would like to find a new job.
Thanks in advance.
Where should I get a job?
Where should I apply to get a job given these possible statistics:
3.5 GPA from a school that rounds out the bottom of top 20 universities in US by USNews
Math/Computer Engineering Major
An interesting EC with some awards to boot
intern experience at big 4 tech consulting
Where would you apply?
Alternatives to Typical Path as a result of Crisis
I imagine this topic was posted at some point in time, but I was unable to find anything on it. I, like many undergraduates, was and still am aspiring to work in the investment banking division for a BB bank. However, now that a few of the biggest players are gone, and with citi hanging on for dear life, I have come to the realization that getting a job with the remaining BB banks will be nearly impossible. I am still interested in the field and hope to enter it as soon as I am accepted. In the meanwhile, I was curious if people had any ideas for alternatives for summer internships that are related to the field and could help down the line. I thought working for the Fed would be a cool and interesting alternative, but was hoping people could shed some light on this for me.
Alcohol in the Workplace?
Hey all,
I am doing a survey on alcohol use in a work environment for a class (I'm a senior) and could really use some banker insight. Below is the link; I thank you for your anonymous 60 seconds of time.
