Benchmark GPA for Canadian Undergrad into US BSchool
Anyone have a rough estimate of what the benchmark percentage mark someone who graduated from either Queen's Commerce or Ivey HBA in Canada would need to stand a solid chance in being admitted to a US top 10 bschool?
Solvay Brussels School
What about the Solvay brussels school (and its Master in Business engineering) to get a job in IB or PE (considering top tier banks and funds)?
large state school + regional bank WE --> top MBA?
What are my chances at a top MBA program? I'm currently a senior at a ~100 ranked state school.
Projected Final GPA: 3.97
WE: I worked at a nonprofit in Washington, D.C. the summer after my freshman year (all expenses paid). For the summer after my sophomore year I worked at a mid-market commercial bank as a lending intern. I was offered a job from the bank that I'm thinking about taking.
Perks of resume: I'm graduating in 3 years with ease. The University pays me $5000 per year because of scholarships (National Merit, Byrd, etc..). The only EC in undergrad was one year as President of the largest student organization on campus.
GMAT: I'm a good test taker and made a 33 on the ACT in high school so I don't think 750+ will be hard to do.
Is it possible to work as a credit analyst in the middle-market lending group for a few years at a regional bank and jump to a top MBA?
(low gpa) Math/Econ vs Business....guidance needed.
I needed some insight/recommendations regarding banking/consulting.
I currently attend the University of Michigan, majoring in econ with a minor in math and communications
I screwed up my freshman year here pretty bad and ended up with a cumulative 2.4 GPA.
I have two choices; first to stay in the econ program and try to salvage my GPA by the time junior year rolls around, or second, to do well this year and apply to the Ross School of Business and end up graduating in 5 years. If I were admitted to Ross then my GPA would start from scratch, not to mention better recruiting and networking. As someone here mentioned, if you go to a school with a top ranked business school than you'd automatically have to "redeem" yourself for not being in it to banks/consulting firms. Not only that, but i'm inclined to reapply as I am much more interested in the bschool curriculum than the more theoretical Econ material.
Top notch grades this year would have to be a given.
Best way to respond to low GPA at job fair?
My school is having a career fair where there will be quite of a number of first tier financial firms. I am looking to get an internship next summer, and want to secure a few interviews at this fair. My major concern is that my GPA is pretty low (below a 3) so I won't put it on my resume. There will probably be at least 50 kids with a 3.5+ also trying to secure one of these spots, so obviously competition will be fierce. Anyone have any strategies to neutralize recruiters' attacks on my low GPA. I know it sounds ridiculous, but surely GPA is not everything and people have gotten jobs before with low GPAs. All I want is to just secure an interview.
