Summer

Does anyone know if this program is designed for minorities, women, etc, or if it is a sophomore program open to all?

I know there are a lot of threads on this subject, but I was wondering if my fellow WSO users out there can offer me some advice.

I am a current sophomore at a target school. I have a 4.0 GPA and am an Economics major. Last summer I landed a very exclusive government internship. However, I want to go in to finance and was looking to get a finance internship this summer.

I have already applied to UBS, MS, and Citi's rotational programs. Are there any others out there?

Also, what other industries in finance should I be looking in?

I've been browsing through different threads regarding the state of Merrill offers, for both associates & analysts. Different people have been saying different things, across different threads. So I thought that I'd make this thread, dedicated to communicating any news regarding the state of any Merrill offers on the line.

Any new thoughts? Most recently, I think IBnutz has mentioned he's heard from an MD in Healthcare that all offers are likely being pulled as soon as the deal closes. Any insight?

how long do they take to notify you of your status post the initial 2 phone interviews? anyone know?

Just wondering what people are doing to get ready for the interviews in mid january for SA positions.

We started getting a bunch of postings up already, just hope some of them will actually do hiring.

I was thinking of reviewing vault's guide thoroughly again, review over valuations by damadoran, and look over a bunch of common interview questions.

Any more suggestions? any way to stay motivated in the next few weeks?

So i came to college thinking I would go into accounting without really knowing much about the ibanking field and now I am trying to jump ship into banking( I know I have horrible timing). I'm currently a junior majoring in economics and accounting at a non target. I'm have been applying my ass off to the different banks for a summer intern position, but I don't really have any banking experience. I have had a accounting internship for over one year but I don't think that will really make me a stand out. There are not a lot of boutique banks in my area and the only one's that offer internships are unpaid internships which really isn't a option for me. So i guess my questions would be is it really worth it interning at at a boutique bank without pay for the experience on my resume?

Do any PE shops recruit undergrads besides BX?

If so, do any of them (besides BX) offer summer internships?

Where would these shops rank relative to top BB banks (MS, GS, etc) and top boutique banks (Greenhill, Moelis, etc) in terms of prestige, compensation, B school admissions, and other exit opportunities?
