Changes in Wall Street culture?
Since it seems like supersized paydays are a thing of the past, will trading continue to entail the grueling hours and tough environment? As I understand it, the reason traders/bankers/financial professionals worked so hard was for the trade off of millions of dollars; now that the money is gone, will employers be able to demand so much? Will so many young people go into banking? Obviously there is no way to know for sure, but what do you see for the future?
Future of I-Banking: Culture and Pay

Why Shitty Bonuses Might Actually be Good for Wall Street Culture
Most people working on the street will agree with me that the culture is full of people with egos bigger than the size of their brains. Your most trusted comrades at work will not think twice before sticking a knife in your ass.
From working for the last few months and hearing people gossip around the office (you won't believe what people say behind each others back), I have come to the conclusion that if bonuses were not such a huge deal, the guy in the next cube might actually sincerely be interested in your success. We have grown to love money so much that the jungle called wall street creates pariahs from once boisterous and very driven individuals (I have seen very nice people just deciding to quit).
Mesirow Financial
Anyone have experience interviewing at Mesirow? Any idea what the culture/hours are like?
Thanks.
Answering this tricky interview question....help
Hi,
If one interned at a top boutique in M&A and worked one's ass off and did a good job but did not receive a full-time offer at the end (obviously one is somewhat subjective here), can anyone think of a good way to spin this in an interview scenario?
If one of the principal reasons was the team culture and that there may have been an individual who was very difficult to work with, obviously this would be a bit of a faux pas to mention in a future interview, cos you're supposed to be professional and try to work well with everyone, no matter what their personality is like / even if you don't get on well.
Can anyone recommend a succint and convincing response if I get asked this in future?
Oppenheimer & Co.
I've got an interview coming up with Oppenheimer & Co. for an IB analyst position, and I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about the culture of the bank after the CIBC acquisition. Also, is the first round of interviews more fit or technical? Are they hiring in the NYC office or looking to take more analysts for their satellite offices? Thanks in advance.
Consultancy Culture vs IBD
Started applying for Strategy Consulting and just wanted to know something.
Now i've worked in IBD for a summer and saw loads of analyst and one associate getting shouted at and humiliated by MD's...
Just wanted to know whether this also occured in Strategy Consultancy? (McKinsey/Deloitte/LEK/Oliver Wyman etc)
Or are Strategy Consultants more "friendlier" down to earth people?
