Admissions Consultants
Hey everyone,
Happy new year.
I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience/knowledge of good admissions consultants. I don't know if this is a legit thing but my friend at a consulting firm has access to that kind resource. Unfortunately, working at a boutique firm in London does not really afford me that luxury. I have been educated in UK and now work there so I really just want some help figuring out the best way to position myself for b-school.
Thanks for any help.
All Those Harvard MBAs Are Still Hitting The Street
NYT's DealBook has the details and statistics on the latest graduting MBA class from Harvard Business School. The author makes it seem like it, but is it really surprising that more Harvard MBAs are flocking to Wall Street than before?
Last year 44% went into the financial services industry, this year about 45% are. What does this really tell us? And what does that mean for the "Harvard MBA Indicator"?
About 4 percent of Harvard’s latest class took jobs at hedge funds, and about 9 percent went to work at investment banks, the data show. About 17 percent went to private equity or leveraged buyout jobs, and 4 percent took positions in the venture-capital industry. (Whether all those people will keep those jobs is an open question, of course.).
B-School while working?
I am graduating in December from undergrad, non-target, with an offer from a fortune top 50 company in their 2-year leadership development program (think GE's FMP). The company pays 100% of tuition/books/etc.. up front, so it is something I want to take advantage of. I am not positive what I want to do after the program, but I would stay if I got into a good department/something I like.
But, is it even worth doing an MBA if it is going to be part-time while working? I know a lot of people say you want the networking and job placement experiences from your MBA, which part-time or online programs won't have as much of. I'm not looking to get into IB or anything (at least not in the near future), so perhaps the placement won't matter too much, especially if I stay with the company.
Yale SOM
How to people view an MBA from Yales SOM? anyone here actually go there for a MBA? how does it compare to other schools?
MBA - Possible to do 2 MBAs?
Is it possible to do two MBAs?
Say u go to a small state business school and get an MBA in Marketing or Accounting (1 year program), work for a few years afterwards, and then go to a top business school to get an MBA in Finance, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, etc.
I wonder if thats possible...thoughts/facts/ideas?
Am I m7 material? What schools should I apply to?
I'd like a little help in deciding which schools I would be competitive at and should apply to. I'm looking at applying round 2 of this application season.
