"Application received" vs. "Application under review"

Is there a difference?
Does getting one or the other mean you've made it to interviews or next steps?

Thanks

How does office ranking work?

Hey everyone. I'm going to be applying for a summer internship at an MBB and we're given three choices to rank our office preferences. Does anyone know how this works? Do they send your application to the three offices or only to the first? I speak Japanese and have work experience related to Japan, which I think would be most appreciated at the Japanese office. However, I would much rather prefer to work in the States, so if I put Japan as my third choice, while putting (probably more competitive) US offices as my first two, how would this work in terms of my application/interviews, etc? Many thanks.

Applying to internships at firms that don't do OCR

I already started applying to summer internships at places that don't recruit on my campus and I was wondering what the timeline is for them to get back to you? Do I still have to wait until spring? Does anyone know whether applying this early will just make my resume be disregarded? I only heard back from a couple of firms, telling me that they either don't recruit summers this year or that I didn't make it. Thanks

HBS MBA Application

I've decided to apply to Harvard and other business schools and was wondering how successful applicants have chosen to answer the essay questions in the past. Specifically, are you focusing mostly on a biography-driven approach, somewhat like a college application, or more of a direct approach to the questions? For instance, for the "how do you envision your career," should I talk about how I've come to decide on my career and skimp on actual details about what I want to do or the opposite?

Stats (because I know it will be asked):
Other Top Ivy (Top 15%)
Highest Honors in Major
GMAT 770

Am I m7 material? What schools should I apply to?

I'd like a little help in deciding which schools I would be competitive at and should apply to. I'm looking at applying round 2 of this application season.
