WSO Rumor Mill: More Layoffs coming at DB, HSBC...and BoA?
Some industry insiders have the following rumors to report. Some of this may not be news to you and none of this can be verified, but we thought we would at least give everyone a heads up so if you are in one of these divisions you can take the proper steps to prepare for some (potentially) grim news.
- * On December 8th, Deutsche Bank may announce further layoffs in Capital Mkts / S&T in the New York office.
- * HSBC is planning on having layoffs to IBD and S&T in London before year end
Deutsche Bank Singapore S&T Summer
I'm considering applying to S&T summer analyst positions abroad. Has anyone had experience in singapore, in particular, Deutsche Bank's summer program? I'm a U.S. student applying there to have something to fall back on in case I can't land anything in New York. I've been to information sessions but there's stuff I can't ask like salary, etc.
Are there any advantages to summering in Singapore?
What's the pay like?
Is it easier to get accepted to summer programs in Singapore?
Would you recommend it and how was your experience there?
Thanks a lot
Why is everyone concentrated on GS, MS and not UBS, DB, CS?
Why is everyone concentrated on just GS/MS?
I understand that they are stand-alone investment banks but what makes UBS, DB, and CS so much different?
What benefit do UBS, DB, and CS get from being European based?
Major Campus Recruiters
I'm a Junior at UNF, I'm a Finance major on the investment track, I'm planning on taking mandarin classes for my foreign language, my wife is teaching me cantonese, and I plan on moving to HK after my studies, looking at getting a CFA charter. The major firms that recruit from my university are, KPMG, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Fidelity, Liberty Mutual, and Citi. I was looking at Merrill mostly, and then things got worse for them. Now I'm mostly looking at KPMG, DB, Fidelity, and Citi (still interested in Merrill though.) Could someone help me as to what they would recommend that I do to be able to transfer from Jacksonville FL to HK, should I get the job in Jacksonville first and then transfer, or just try to apply for a job on the other side of the world. Keep in mind, I will be meeting these recruiters shortly, and I have roughly 4 years in both commercial banking and Financial Services.
Thanks
