Internship

Reneging

I'm currently a junior at a non-target and have accepted a corporate finance internship for the upcoming summer where I will not be expected to work more than the typical 40 hours a week. I accepted this in October not really sure what opportunities would be out there in banking for someone in my position. The company I will be working for has a very solid internship program and is well respected throughout the finance field. It is not what I want to do full-time however; that would be banking.

Would You Be Willing To Work on a Discount for Experience?

Would You Be Willing To Work on a Discount for Experience?

I have a question for all of you.

Lets say you have an opportunity to do a banking job at a boutique way earlier than you otherwise could, but would get pennies. Specifically, lets say you're a high school senior with an internship offer right after graduation. The internship would normally pay someone around 15-20K, but you only get a 5K stipend.

On the one hand you get great experience on your resume for future jobs and this would beat out pretty much anything else that you could get at that time money wise.

On the flip side, you're getting extremely under paid and you'd likely be working 80-100 hour weeks.

Would you be underpaid and overworked for an opportunity later on, or would you say screw it?

If you could give details, that'd be great.

UBS President's Summer Internship

Does anyone know if this program is designed for minorities, women, etc, or if it is a sophomore program open to all?

Sophomore Summer Suggestions

I know there are a lot of threads on this subject, but I was wondering if my fellow WSO users out there can offer me some advice.

I am a current sophomore at a target school. I have a 4.0 GPA and am an Economics major. Last summer I landed a very exclusive government internship. However, I want to go in to finance and was looking to get a finance internship this summer.

I have already applied to UBS, MS, and Citi's rotational programs. Are there any others out there?

Also, what other industries in finance should I be looking in?

Thanks!

IB Internship without seeking Full-time offer?

How much benefit would be received from an IB internship and then looking at corp fin or big 4 transaction advisory stint? Could it be detrimental to recruiting since it would look as though I couldn't make it at the firm? Would it be better to to just try to land the internship with the target in the first place?

Thanks.

part time back office HF internship

Hi,

I have the opportunity to intern part time at a HF I'm really interested in, with about 500MM-1b AUM (not sure actually), but it would be in their back office-trade settlements/operations/accounting division.

Do you think its worth doing? I have this 1 spring semester left before the summer, where I hope to land a BB S&T internship. I need an internship to strengthen my candidacy for S&T this summer and for full time next fall (fall full-time recruiting may be non-existent).

Or should I pursue something at a prop shop more investment related? I'm really interested in hearing your opinions.

Thanks
