Does anyone know people who have made entries into corp dev without the traditional banking or consulting experience? I really want to get into corporate M&A, but don't think IB hours or consulting travel is the life for me, and it seems that's the path to corp dev. What's out there and how do I get there?

I am working on valuing a private video-compression technology company, and wanted to know if the companies in this area are valued based on their revenues or more based on EBITDA? In other words would a buyer place more value on the revenues or on the ebitda?
Most of the smaller similar sized comps have negative earnings.

Phone interview is coming up with MS tech. I understand that they´re top-tier.

What are some must-know deals in the past couple years?
Any info on the structure of the group? Is a junior analyst placed into a tech coverage with M&A exposure or is there a separate tech m&a group there?
Culture?
And this group is solely tech right? Not TMT?
