Message Board Rules and Netiquette
As the community continues to grow and evolve, let's try to keep it at least somewhat civil, useful and entertaining.
To that end, here are a few items to keep in mind as you participate in the community:
- Please do your best to avoid starting a thread on a topic that's already been discussed. Use the Search function or see the FAQ block on the right hand side of the screen. I know the Search function needs some improvement, but sometimes it actually works! I'm trying to get a better module installed within a few weeks
Making it to a distressed debt fund
Ever since I started looking into finance, I've wanted to work in distressed debt because it seems like the ultimate value play, using a not too quantitative skillset.
Problem is, I'm about as far from making it into a fund like this as humanly possible. I went to a top 30 school that is hopelessly non-target and with the economy as it is, the only thing I was able to get in May was a job as a fund accountant for a major custodian (think BONY Mellon/State Street). The fact that I majored in International Relations doesn't help.
Stevens Capital Management
Has anyone heard of Stevens Capital Management in the Philly area? I have seen job postings from them, but it doesn't look like they even have a website. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
"fundamental/value" hedge funds
Hello all,
Can someone please provide me with a list of reputable hedge funds who:
- invests in equities (US and/or Asian); and
- uses fundamental analysis/value investing strategies
(I am not interested in the Renaissance Tech computer trading type of hedge funds)
Thank you so much.

S&T BB Associate --> HF
Can anyone comment on whether it's possible/ how likely it is? I've already committed to the firm at which I summered and plan to make the switch to a HF after two years. Still unclear which desk I'll be placed on but am open-minded and will work my butt off. Any thoughts on which desks I should go for? Any thoughts on what skills I need to learn/develop while I'm there?
hedge fund intern programs
My school doesn't have many hedge fund internships listed on our recruiting website. I know of a couple funds that have intern programs, but I wanted to see if people could list any that they were aware of. Many thanks.
