sales and trading
am i paranoid or reasonable? what to do about summer internships..
I'm a junior at a target school interested in a sales and trading internship. As a sophomore last year, I attended a short program at a bank that is still around today, and I was given an internship offer in Spring 2008 for Summer 2009.
I have verbally accepted the offer and received a letter of intent, but I have not received an official offer letter. HR said the offer should come in the fall, but I still haven't received it, and I think the earliest I would get it is a month or so. I'm worried that they are potentially purposely delaying it because of hiring freezes or that they may potentially rescind the offer..
GS HK Securities Interview
I applied for IBD in GS HK. But I received an email saying that I have an interview with Securities division. Does that mean they think I'm more of a fit to Sales & Trading? What kind of questions will GS Securities usually ask?
Thanks!
Citigroup Trading

HELP: S&T interview next week (energy trading desk)
Have an interview scheduled for next week for energy trading. I understand the basics of forwards/futures/hedging risk but my foundation is stronger in equity derivatives and fixed income. So I don't know what to expect. What are some good resources where I can get up to date with the market in a fairly quick amount of time. I understand energy is much more difficult to master but I don't want to walk into the interview with a deer in the headlights.
Background:
UCLA Undergrad applying for a full-time offer which includes a 7 week training program. Position includes energy markets as well as agriculture trading.
First S&T interview, interned in risk management the summer before.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Would I be crazy...?
Sorry in advance for the long post, but I need some advice... Let me begin by saying I know I am getting slightly ahead of myself, but I would rather start thinking about this sooner rather than later. So I lost my summer internship in IBD when my bank went under in the spring. I managed to get another job working for a TOP Asset Management company in their Alternative Investment group, in a PE related fund. I worked 6 weeks, just myself and an MD. We get along great, he's a great boss, the lifestyle is far better than IBD and he wants me to come back and work for him when he launches the fund. I would literally be the first person working in the group besides the MD, so it would be nice to get in very early. Base pay is IBD street (65k+10k signing) and bonus will be slightly below street, but not living in NYC, so cost of living is much lower.
Muni Trading
I have an interview for the s&t role on a public finance desk at a bb, basically trading munis. Can someone who is familiar with trading munis talk about whether this is a good area to trade? From my understanding, some people look down at pub fin and trading munis?
thx
