Paying for b-schoolHappy holidays everybody. A few quick questions for those who already have an MBA, are currently enrolled in an MBA program, or are planning to attend an MBA program next year. How did you/are you thinking about paying for business school? Have you heard of any ways to secure less expensive... 2 years 5 months
How much more would you pay to attend HBS?When discussing top b-schools, many people use phrases like "top 5" or "top 10" or "M7" - and most people would be excited to attend any of these schools. However, in finance, and in PE in particular, there seems to be a huge bias towards HBS and Stanford. Meaning, many PE guys will ONLY... 3 years 6 months
Moving to another PE firm w/o business school? I understand that most large PE firms "recommend" (read: require) associates to get an MBA before returning as a VP. I also understand that some smaller PE firms will take ex-associates from larger funds without an MBA. Does anyone have a sense for how small a fund an associate at a large PE... 3 years 9 months

Kelley MBA (Indiana University)I attended Kelley undergrad and had an awesome experience. So at least from an experience perspective, I'm sure you'll love it. As for IBD recruiting, why don't you ask for historical employment statistics? I'm not sure how well Kelley MBA places into BB IBD. Do you care about being in NYC?... 2 years 2 months
To anyone considering an MBAFantastic post - extremely well articulated and full of insight! Congrats on the acceptance!! 2 years 4 months
*deleted*McCombs places lots of people into NYC BBs. If you're a top performer at McCombs and not an a-hole, you'll easily be able to land a NYC BB gig. I'd stay at UT. Not worth the extra cost. Plus, most people would probably argue that UT is more fun than Wharton or Cornell or similar (better social... 2 years 6 months
What is the GMAT cutoff for Wharton's...
It's not wharton but another top school, where those with 730+ go into a separate pile from the rest. Regarding wharton though, from talking to friends on student adcom, the median gmat for finance/consulting males is now 770.
There is no possible way this is true... 2 years 7 months
Typos in MBA applicationsI know several people who found typos in their applications after they submitted but were admitted anyway. Some were small, like those mentioned above; others were bigger, like mixing up dates for a job or similar (note: this was in the online portion of the app, not the actual resume). I think... 2 years 7 months
MBA class of 2015 applicants thread

Haha I was reading this on my phone and accidentally gave you a SB and monkey poo for this post - sorry about that! Hopefully they net out... Anyway, as for me I am applying to HBS, GSB, and Kellogg in R1.
Yo Man.. SB me to make it square. Otherwise that... 2 years 7 months

Are you hiring passionate graduates?
Probably just fine. I wouldn't hold this against him in an interview. My point is, the job market is ultra competitive and even the slightest deficiency may hinder you. Another thought process could be "Ok, well, this is all just a first draft. He wrote this and didn't review it." P.S... 2 years 8 months
Why do Management Consulting? Another important reason people choose MC that I haven't yet seen mentioned on this thread is that many undergrads who join MC firms are simply not interested in finance. I worked at MBB and now work in megafund PE, so have experienced the differences firsthand. Several of my analyst peers at MBB... 2 years 8 months
