How Stress Can Be GoodFound this interesting article at the crack of dawn. Oddly enough on my way to the gym. The premise is how our bodies atrophy without regular stress (exercise) when we age. How this can also be applied to our minds. And basically that stress can be good for you. How have you pushed yourself... 3 years 2 months
Obama and the Oil MarketI'm curious as to what some of you think about this latest attempt by the administration to control oil "manipulation". How much manipulation actually occurs? As opposed to speculation which is an important part of the futures market. Seems like another short sided idea. Kind of reminds me of... 3 years 2 months

Day 1: To Be A Better ManThis is fantastic. 3 years 2 weeks
Quality of engineers switching to finance? ^Agree with the PS above. I think the engineers that switch to the business side or finance see the other opportunities/incentive with their degree. They also have different personalities than most typical engineers. 3 years 1 month
Quality of engineers switching to finance? I don't think so. I had a 4.0 in my propulsion concentration, along with a couple design competition first place awards. I found finance way more interesting and more aligned to my personal strengths. So I don't think its as clear cut as what you posted. 3 years 1 month
Your Height May Keep You From Getting A Job I had a boss who prided himself at "controlling the table" as he put it. He (a Texan) always said "wear cowboy boots, it makes you taller, more intimidating and everyone can hear your foot steps" Needless to say I think it worked for him, but he always said "height helps". And he wasn't short... 3 years 2 months
Chevron and Solar EnergyPublic outcry is one but not the only factor in Chevron's solar investment. Some of the majors, including BP and Shell see that in the (very) long term oil will not the dominant source of energy for the majority of the planet. Mainly because finding new oil reservoirs is becoming very difficult,... 3 years 2 months
I'm an Artist!!!I agree with Maximus and protectedclass on this one as well. Most engineers solve problems in certain specific areas, then apply that solution to a larger system. You can't be an engineer and not have critical thinking skills. If you lack those skills then you are just a human calculator or... 3 years 2 months
WSJ Article: MSc vs MBAI'm surprised a lot of people have not chimed in on this subject. That article sums up why I chose a M.S.F instead of an M.B.A. However, I have yet to start my program. Can anyone comment on their experience? 3 years 2 months
WUSTL MSF StudentsI'm fixing the issue with group. Give it another try sometime. If not just PM. 3 years 2 months
Obama and the Oil MarketI guess it doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you are on, all politicians participate in some sort of blame game in the energy market. At least when it affects their re-election. But to think that the oil market is over priced due to manipulation, not a cheap dollar and the fact... 3 years 2 months
How much do you owe on your student loans?I think it would be interesting to find out of those who did not take out loans for college, what percentage received funding from A) parents B) themselves or C) scholarships. Although I agree, these numbers seem way off compared to all other polls the media publishes. 3 years 2 months
