Banks' economistsI'd like to know who the well-regarded economists are at different banks, but too lazy to dig through the individual websites. It'd be great if everyone could post the name of the person(s) at his or her bank and a couple of public articles by them that they've found interesting. I'll start: GS... 6 years 8 months

Andrew Lahde Fairwell Email
He sounds like a total fool. He got extremely lucky and bailed because he knows he can never replicate his success.
Wow, probably the most idiotic post I've seen in a long time. Disproving your own point whilst making it so fervently! Well done. How can anyone who has... 6 years 8 months
Effective Fed Funds vs Overnight LIBORDarkxfriend, great thread. I'm afraid the answer to your question has more to do with mathematics then you may have expected. LIBOR as opposed to Effective Funds is set by a disproportionately small number of banks, namely: BoA, JPMorgan, Citi, MUFG, Barclays, CS, DB, HBOS, HSBC, Lloyds,... 6 years 8 months
Lazard exit opps in EuropeHave been impressed by Lazard's London FIG team. If you have the option of spending some time with them, grab it! You'll see a lot of dealflow both in terms of re-capitalisations, as well as distressed asset sales. No idea about PE opps. 6 years 8 months
Overheard at my bank...Had it not been for this morning's action I wouldn't have discounted the possibility. Barclays is one of the banks with the worst Tier 1's out there and they've displayed a Lehman-like aversion to disclosing what's on their books. BarCap has been significantly bulked up in the past two years, but I... 6 years 8 months
Who to blame for sub-primeAlan Greenspan for mistaking a localised problem for a systemic one and still over-reacting, unregulated mortgage brokers, and this mentality (see poster): http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eVB4pxYKr-0/SOKnE9rAiUI/AAAAAAAAAkI/aLgRpOnviBw/s1600-h/Wonderful+Life.png I think labelling the investment... 6 years 8 months
Morgan Stanley near 7 bucks a buy?Ah, nice to see one with a pair on these boards... "[...] there was no way Mitsu was going to keep the deal under its original terms", that infers that MUFG were the ones who pushed for the deal to be changed. I'll give you three guesses who it was that proposed a deal that would allow the Japanese... 6 years 8 months
Morgan Stanley near 7 bucks a buy?Clueless Wanderer, please educate yourself first before wondering out-loud why the Japanese are willing to close this deal. A good place to start might be here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122363675892422697.html?mod=googlenews_wsj It may also be useful to consider what the motivation... 6 years 8 months
Just got a raise from my BBToo many senior guys in NY bitching about that figure. Steep rise in apps from US universities to London offices. As the guys said above, this also has to do with softening you up for a miserly bonus 6 years 9 months
