Toronto question- TD Securities- lay-offs starting?

I recently heard that CS Toronto let go of some of their FT analysts in light of poor deal flow. I am concerned that some of the large Canadian banks will also be letting go of their analysts soon. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately I do not have access to a Bloomberg terminal, but would someone kindly be able to copy and paste (or direct me) to a list of deals worked on by TD Securities in 2008?

Given the existing market conditions, to what capacity do you guys feel that this will impact firms' position to hand-out FT offers to SAs?

I will be working for a Canadian ibank this summer in Toronto. Unfortunately, we do not get the same level of training that US/European firms provide their interns. At best, we get 2-3 days of training and the rest is supplemented by our previous finance knowledge and on the job training by the senior analysts/associates.

Some of my buddies in their interviews have been asked, "pitch me 3 stocks to buy", and after their picks, the interviewer went onto ask, "pitch me another 3".
