MS in Financial Mathematics

Do the BB firms or hedge funds actively recruit people earning an MS in Financial Mathematics? I know it is a one-year program, so there wouldn't be time for a summer internship, but I wonder how valuable this degree would be.

From Law to PE

Hi, I've been practicing patent law for 6 years and want to get in to PE. I've read a bunch of posts here and everyone seems to be in agreement that PE firms hire post MBAs that already have banking experience.

So if I were to get an MBA from a top 5 school and then work 1.5 years in ibanking would I have a realistic shot at getting in to PE?

Pay in Chicago versus NY

What is the pay in Chicago and BB versus the pay in NY for associates? I assume that the bonuses must be smaller, but I was wondering how much smaller (if at all).

Investment banking reviews

I have noticed that a number of people have mentioned that it's critical to have a top ranking among one's analyst/associate class while at an investment bank.

This may be a dumb questions, but I am wondering whether analysts/associates receive something akin to a "report card" that they can show to other employers when subseqneutly looking to lateral over to a job at a different investment b

Patent background for VC?

Hi, I have been particing patent law for 6 years and would like to transition over to VC or PE. I am currently in the process of applying to MBA programs. Does anyone know whether I would be able to go directly to a VC or PE firm after graudating with my MBA? Or would I need to work first in investment banking? The reason I ask is because the application essays ask for my long-term and short-term goals.
