Does anyone have any familiarity with PE firms that hire out of undergrad in the DFW area? Just looking to see if any respectable ones provide opportunities straight out of university. I know of quite a few respectable firms, like Lone Star or HM, but am looking for more information on them and if they target undergrads? My assumption is HM skims off ex bankers, but if anyone knows of any firm that will take undergrads I would appreciate the info.

Lone Star Funds

Anyone have any insight into this firm? Seems to do some FIG stuff now (since they do distressed investing naturally). Wondering if they hire out of undergrad and how competitive it is?

Underage drinking

This has been covered slightly but looking for more opinions. I'll be turning 21 during my SA stint, but wont be for the first couple weeks. I have a good fake ID (a real one that looks like me), so when is it ok to use this? From most responses, it looks ok to use when out with the group or other SA/analysts but not when at an event with HR. Can anyone provide more insight on when it is ok/not ok to use it?

Exit Opps

I did a search and really didnt get much insight into my question. I will be joining a respected FIG group at a BB this summer and (as of now) would like to head to the buyside after my analyst stint. Are the analysts in FIG groups really pigeon holed by the specific skill sit gained from the unique valuation of financial institutions? It seems like this would be a decent group to join right now for deal experience, which most argue is extremely important for buyside interviews. Looking for comments on where FIG analysts go (maybe specific firms), and if breaking into respected PE firms is that difficult with this background.

How does post-SA recruiting work?

Curious on how the process is for someone who does a SA at BB in NYC, and then wants to shop his offer around and look at other firms. I saw some previous posts on how it works in London, but was looking for feedback specifically for NYC. How does it work if you summer, get an offer, and then want to interview elsewhere?

Rank the Banks

I know there are rankings based on Vault, league tables, etc. However, I want to see how people rank the top 10 investment banks in their own mind. Rankings can be on prestige, deals, etc. Just curious to see how people view the pecking order of the top, lets say 10, banks. I try to avoid the subprime effect and look at deal flow and prestige (and this is just for each banks IB unit).

What does a SA do?

I know there are topics about how to prepare, tips, etc. But what tasks do SA do? I'd like to know what people have done when they were SA or what people have made their SA do. I know many people think of modeling when in IB, but contacts at my bank said you wouldnt do that till the last week or two (if at all). Thanks.

Anyone know who would be considered the top PE firms in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area? I know there are a lot of hedge funds in the area, but have not heard much in terms of PE. Prefer to hear of funds with over >$1B (if there are any).
