No summer offer... extending a year?

Unfortunately, for various reasons, I was unable to secure a summer offer. To be honest, I'm crestfallen and really feel beat down. The "why no offer" question is something I know I'll have to deal with if I decide to recruit full-time. My question is, would it be a viable option to extend my graudation by a semester and recruit for SA positions again in January?

Would it be plausible/favorable to say... I realized I wasn't intersted in working for a certain group / location and it became clear after a couple weeks to them that this was the case -- or whatever answer I decide to use... -- followed by saying I had always wanted to study abroad, and made the decision to get more experience (hopefully pick up a boutique internship in the fall), and use the extra year to go abroad and wait for the market conditions improve.

I'm just weighing my options that would maximize the liklihood of me ending up wiht a job, be it in 2009 or 2010...

Eyes...

After working long hours, I find that it is my eyes more so than myself/body that is actually tired. They get dry... feeling like closing and are overall uncomfortable. It's worse on longer hours and pretty bad after waking up from a night of ~2-3 hours of sleep.

Do any of you recommend any specific kind of eye drops or eye creams?

p.s. - please don't recommend visine...

So... are we allowed to.... get SICK?

What happens when you fall sick? Are you expected to come to work and trudge it out? Is it looked down upon to come in? Are you dragged into the back room by your MD for a quick session of medieval bloodletting?

Speak up!

Tapered sleeves

I've heard and read in publications (i.e. GQ) of having a tailor taper the sleeves of your suitjacket/sports coat. When I went in an asked my tailor to do it, he looked as me as if I were about to commit a crime. In the end he refused to do it saying it would ruin the jacket. He is just an out of style old man?

Too flashy for the office?

Are these watches too flashy for the office or should I stick with the classic white/black face?

1.) http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/webapp/en-us/collection/?c=AC&y=124&p=359

2.) http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/webapp/en-us/collection/?c=AC&y=61&p=362

Obviously this one would be appropriate:

http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/webapp/en-us/collection/?c=AC&y=75&p=80

Waking up in the morning...

I'm starting in the summer as an SA and laugh all you want but I am genuinely concerned about being able to wake up in the mornings. I have a crazed sleeping schedule (sleep late... wake up outrageously late) which might help with the late nights but I am a notoriously heavy sleeper. After not sleeping much for a few nights, I have literally slept through alarms time and time again.

Dress Pants

Hate to flood the board with "fashion" threads but I searched around and couldn't find anything on the topic. I'm setting aside ~$500-600 this summer to pick up a couple/few pairs of nice dress pants. Any recommendations? They will go in conjunction to 2 pairs of khaki-colored dress pants I already own and the 2 black slacks from my suit bottoms. In terms of cost, I'm typically okay with buying Brooks Brothers / Thomas Pink shirts so something along those lines (i.e. please don't recommend 1 pair of $600 slacks...).

Thanks!

SA to FT Conversion

From what I've heard about the BB, the general consensus is that you go into a SA position with the FT spot as yours to lose. Is this pretty much the case? I know some people mention exceptions (i.e. GS), but this seems to be the general gist.

After 3-4 months of busting balls, staying persistent and going through everything that is recruitment, FINALLY landing a top BB offer from a place I'd be more than happy to work is so gratifying. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day!
