Can anyone explain what exactly Herstatt risk is and how CLS helps reduce that risk?

I'm going to be in a trading internship over the summer with a BB. Surprisingly, I was considering banking but somehow ended up in trading. I've been going over books on trading and it seems far more complicated than the stuff that I used to read up on banking. I'm reading a book on fixed income securities and derivatives by Moorad Chaudary and it clearly isn't a walk in the park. It's highly quantitative and I don't mind that but it's just that there are so many concepts in this book, I'm a bit concerned I might not remember them all in the future. Do traders really need to know all this stuff? If they do, isn't banking easier because it's far more methodical?

Hi,

I'm going to be doing an S&T internship over the summer and I thought it would be best if I managed to read some stuff in preparation. Also, this internship will be in Hong Kong, so any suggestions on how I can get in tune with the Asian markets other than reading stuff available on the news?

I just wanted to know as an analyst, do you ever get the chance to go the CEO's office? I know the answer to this is no most of the times, but I believe in some places like GE, if you are in the FMP program, you get the opportunity to do this. Also are offices for CEOs located in the top floors?

Hi, I have found myself in quite a predicament here and am unable to find a solution. The situation is as such: I am currently a sophomore in a non target school and have managed to procure an internship with a BB in S&T. I also have the opportunity to transfer to a top target school by the end of this semester or starting fall 2008.
