JD/MBA Program

What do you think about the joint degree program? I was thinking about applying to it b/c if I did get a job in business knowing the law would be good and I am also considering working in a law firm that specializes in business law. I am not sure if having the extra credentials help out any. What are your opinions?

Investment Management

Can someone explain the difference in Investment Management and Investment Banking. A few questions I have are:

How different are the salaries?

Are the work hours the same?

Do you start at the same lvl (analyst) in both jobs but them move to banking or management?

Is it as competitive?

Pros/Cons

Thanks

Bank for International Settlements/noobie questions

I was talking to my dad this weekend and he said that my aunt is head of the PR department for BIS in switzerland. I don't know her very well b/c she has always lived in different countries. This is why I am asking you guys this instead of her.

Here are my "noob" questions.

How big is BIS (prestige)?

Does it hire ibankers? If not what kind of work do they do?

Are there any offices in America or is it only in Mexico, Switzerland, and Hong Kong? It says on it's website Central Bank Hub/websites. Then it lists Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Washington)and Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Does this mean that they have offices there or that these offices are affiliated with them? Do you think my aunt could help me get a job at these places?

A few ideas...

I am probably going to get "flamed" for this, but there are a few things that I think need to be changed.

1. I think you should make it so individuals have to register to post.

2. There should be moderators who can delete inappropriate posts and ban people who violate "rules."

3. I read these boards to learn from others and to get informed, not to read posts with nothing but f bombs and sexual profanity in them. There are a lot of immature posts.

It is the true story of Christopher Gardner. I am still reading the book, and it is very inspirational.

Here is his website if you are interested in learning more about him.

Formula for Success

I am currently a sophomore at a very small private school. It is considered a "prestigious" school in state, but most people out of state have never heard of it. It did get the 19th rank for USnews' Northern Universities-Masters Top Schools. I have a 3.9 GPA, and I am majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Finance. I don't work, but I do volunteer at the hospital every other weekend.
