Comp as a Senior at a Private Investment Bank vs. Public Investment Bank. Help Please

Guys and Gals,

I currently work at a pvt IB which allows senior IBs to buy in at book value. This works great since the ROE has been very high lately and has proven to be a very effective tool in retaining talent (voluntary turnover has been less than 5% for the last two years).

My question to you guys/gals is how public IBs protect its talent from leaving to a private IB without this great incentive.

Hourly Wage Ranking

Itll be really interesting to compute some sort of comp ladder based on hourly wages. So annual salary plus bonus divided by number of hours worked per year in average.

Must have better Marketing

Site should focus more on marketing itself. Most interesting aspect of site I find are the forums. I am not aware of any other sites that are attempting this.

Should contact dealbreaker; dealbook; thedeal; going private; jeff matthews, etc to have them write a blurb about this site or to have a link to it. Site will get exponentially better with every 100 members added!

The roles/responsibilities of Analysts and Associates

Just wondering what the roles/responsibilities of analysts/associates are at your respective IBK shops. Seems like they vary from place to place. Ive heard of some shops where the analysts do all the comps and the associates focus on the modelling whereas others have the analysts do both comps & modeling and associates just review/check analysts work...

My MD was Sleeping with an Analyst

The most fucked up thing to be around is when your MD is sleeping with an analyst. She gets special treatment such as never having to work late; never responsible for any ofher mistakes (associates fault); going out to client meetings; traveling on roadshows; going out to client dinners; dressing inappropriately at work (ok I didnt really mind that); and being bitchy to everyone around, just to na
