Shell Energy Trading

I just had an interview with Shell for their shell energy trader development program. From my understanding, the rotation is among risk, origination and operation. You do not actually get to be a trader...

Does anyone know more about this program and if its possible to work toward becoming a trader?

prop trading vs broking vs ....

I've got a few job prospects and would be great if I could get some insight and advice.

prop trading: basic is extremely low. perhaps just enough to pay rent and some bananas. but the deal is to trade the firms money, and the better the performance the more buying power.

energy broking: deals with energy markets including oil, gas, coal, petrochemicals and tanker freight. heard commissions are great.

corporate finance route: regular finance route: think GE FMP, Shell Corporate finance

I'm in my final year of undergraduate studies, done BB (top-tier) Equity Research internship, and have no idea which path would present the most upside going forward. Would like to seek advice of which is easiest to learn and have a high chance of doing well.

Recruiting Season

I'm applying for full-time job in BB, boutique, prop shops, corporate finance division... what ever I could possibly get in this impossible environment.

Is September the month to apply? Does it matter if it's a boutique or BB....the deadlines seem to be spread out Oct-Nov. is this a fair assumption??

how do you answer......

Why do you want to work for Deutsche Bank (or any other BB)and not Merrill Lynch/GS/Morgan Stanley?

How do you say you wanna to work for a lower BB like DB, Bank of America ... rather than the better and more prestigious BB?
