ibd intern -> s&t fulltime? how?

I am junior applying soon for intern
I have contacts in ibd who explicitly told me they could much more help me get a job in their ibd versus s&t. these are top firms.

the problem is I am leaning toward s&t, though unsure.

i will apply for intern in ibd, i am under qualified, the market sucks, so I desperately need their help.

IF i do decide to switch at the end of my internships, how hard would it be and what would be the process to get my top choice of s&t desks. I am thinking to network my ass off. but once I express interest in s&t will they not give me a ibd FT offer? could I switch my internship to s&t after the first few weeks?

worst case scenario is I express interest in s/t and get no offer at all. or I get to s&t but get a really shitty desk or stuck in sales (not bad but not for me). kind of nervous of that.

thanks

partisan political club= dinged by haters?

I founded and lead a political club(think college Dems/Republicans).
Should I be worried about people of the opposite political affiliation dinging me just because of this club? I was thinking of replacing the name of the club with something that sounds more generic or general interest. good idea?

I am really worried because I interviewed for sophomore year internship and some asshole interviewer gave me some shit about my political affiliation. Obviously he was not professional, but thats life.

no idea what to do as this is my main EC I was hoping to lift up my resume

fall intern or boost GPA

I am going to by a junior at a semi target. I have a 3.3 in Math/Econ. I am completing a internship at a hedge fund this summer, where I learned very little actual finance. Not sure as to whether I want s/t or ibd

Should I do a Fall internship at a small/unknown investment bank/PE/Hedge fund or should I boost my GPA to a 3.4

I know that 3.3 is very borderline, which is why i ask

BA/MA, or double major, or cum laude?

Which would look the best to have on my resume down the road:
math + econ double major
BA/MA econ (top 10 grad econ department)
econ + math minor + cum laude

these are all my realistic options and I cant decide which would be most impressive. coursework would largely be similar for all of them so that is not really a concern

opinions?

start as goldman analyst or deutsche associate?

I will be graduating with a four year BA/MA. I am under the impression I can leverage this at banks to start as an associate. is this true?

and if so would it be beneficial to step down a little in prestige to start as an associate? I think I can at least leverage an MA and an offer from a goldman or morgan into an associate offer at a bank like deutsche. would it be worth it or is name more important? and this is for trading, so I am leaning toward doing it because prestige matters less than performance. what do you guys think?

LA school to NYC bank? How?

Hey,
I go to school in LA and everyone who graduates stays in LA to work, even for BB banks. How do I get to NYC and how will the interview work? Where will my first and second interviews be and when do I pressure them to place me in NYC? is it 1st/2nd interview in LA and then I go straight to NYC or is 2nd round I get flown out to NYC or what? What about applying to both LA and NYC to be safe?

undergrad networking with MBAs?

Hey,

What do you guys think of an undergrad reaching out to past MBA students for 'advice' on getting a Jr. year internship? meaning they did their MBA where I am doing my undergrad and now have a sweet job
Do MBAs have less school spirit? Will they only associate themselves with other MBAs from the school? Any tactics/suggestions for approaching this?

Hey,
I am new to this forum and just wondering where I stand with respect to my competition for getting a S&T job at a BB. Could anyone tell me if I am set to get a lot of interviews or if I need to get my shit together:

Sophomore at reasonable target (J Hopkins/Georgetown/Northwestern/UVA, etc)
3.5 Math and Econ
founder of small club, member of club contact sport (football/ lacrosse)
