Competition for Atlanta jobs

I'm going to be a freshman at Duke next year, and I'd like to spend next summer working in some sort of finance-related internship in Atlanta. How competitive are IBD (I'm guessing pretty much only for boutiques/Suntrust) and PWM (BB) internships?

Language skills/working in Hong Kong

Questions:
1) I can speak fluent mandarin, but cannot read very well. Does this present a challenge if I want to work at an BB in HK? How much weight does knowing a foreign language carry during the recruiting process?
2) Would not knowing cantonese hurt me?

HPSW vs.... tier 2 (Dartmouth, Duke, Columbia)

I'm sorry if this question has been asked a million times, but it's really bothering me.It's much more of, just an envy/ego question, but anyways:

Do students at the TOP targets (mainly just HS and W) really have that much of an advantage on students from a school like Duke or Dartmouth (which almost seem like Ibanking factories)? If there is a difference, is it negligible or is it pronounced? Are Duke/Dartmouth students less prepared in interviews? Are they dumber, overall (be honest)?
