Are there any safe CDs?

I have no idea how the FDIC is doing these days and what is insured and what isn't. I'm looking to invest money in CDs. I was looking at the best rates I can get. Highest I saw was GMAC, but that seems a little rocky right now. I was going to go for ING, but they're not doing so well either. I'm obviously going to avoid buying indices until the market clears a little.

Any suggestions on where it would be safe to park my money for 9-ish months?

Reinterviewing post-SA

If I interviewed with xyz firm for an SA position but didn't get a summer offer, interned at another bank (abc) and got an offer, what is the process with interviewing again with xyz for full time?

I'm wondering how to put this across in my cover letters, i.e. how to say "i got an offer from abc with rave reviews, and i loved my firm, but i liked xyz better from the start, and i'd get a better analyst experience at your firm modeling-wise"??

I'm an SA, and I think my group thinks I'm stupid

My group never gives me anything to do. I did one thing wrong, but they never even told me about it, I had to ask if there were any mistakes. I'm probably smarter than the other interns (including an associate summer), but they aren't even letting me do things, just sit there and stare at the screen.

What do I do to make them trust me/get assignments?
