Fund of Funds to Direct

First post ever...

How difficult is it to go from a PE fund of funds to a direct? I have a reasonable modeling background at from secondary transactions and side reading, but should I attempt to do get more experience from something like wallstreetprep? any insight or tips would be greatly appreciated.
