Ken Moelis of UBS LA Possibly leaving

What do you guys think of the following article that was in today's NY Times? If he leaves, that would be huge blow to the firm. He's the single reason why UBS is where it is today.
_____________________________________

Kenneth D. Moelis, the president of UBS’s investment bank in New York, is threatening to leave the firm, according to people briefed on the matter.

Credited with turning UBS from a small Swiss bank into a Wall Street powerhouse over the last five years, Mr. Moelis has told colleagues and friends that he has begun looking for opportunities outside the bank, these people said.

What makes CS LA so great?

People keep discussing how UBS LA is great in terms of deal flow (especially in Media and gaming), many senior bankers being based out of the office, and great exit opportunities. However, considering that everyone considers UBS/CS to be the best in LA, why do people never talk about CS LA? Do they have many senior guys based there and similar deal flow like UBS? I know that both offices are co

Frank Quattrone and his next move

Interesting article that speculates the future of possibly the greatest technology banker of all time. He is said to be poaching Boutros and Brady, his former colleagues at CSFB, to join him in his new venture, which would seriously cripple CS's Tech Franchise. I'm sure he has some friends at GS/MS as well. Either way, he'll be major player in tech banking and PE going forward.

Importance of CFA?

Is it necessary to sit for CFA exam if you plan on being in banking over course of your career or transition into senior role at corporate? I know that it's a big investment and time commitment, so I'm debating. Plus, it's hard since we rarely have any free time to study for the exam.

Any thoughts????

MS Lev Fin

How does MS compare to JPM, DB, CS, and UBS in Lev Fin? I know that it's much better than the firms below overall, but not sure how good their Lev. Fin group is. These other firms Lev. Fin group is much more established and known, but I guess any opinions on the future would be helpful.
