Compenstation Website

http://www.wallstreetcomps.com/results.asp

Has anybody ever heard or used this website? I was looking at the comps and they seem pretty much inline. I like how they break it up by each individual bank and do a statistical analysis.

Any experience with Nicube?

http://nicube.com/openboard/1/

Has anybody have an experience with Nicube. It seems to be a direct competitor to WSO. From the layout and reading a few of the threads it seems directly focused for students trying to break into the IB industry. Have any WSO monkeys have used the site? If you have, how reputable is the content?

Research Third Party Rankings

I'm interested in hearing from PM's and AM types on this board on what third party rankings do you consider to be most relevant and bearing on to choosing which ER analyst to listen too. I know in the past that II rankings were King but ever since the Chinese wall the focus has been towards the Greenwich Survey as the business now has catered towards mostly hedge funds.

Also how do you decide on what firms are you going to execute your trades with? How much does the strength of the firm's research department play in? Some of my friends have been saying that you are entering a dying industry but I have also been hearing that given the sustained volatility in the market that research will have resurgence. Thank you for your responses.

Andrew Lahde Fairwell Email

Did anyone read the Andrew Lahde fairwell email? The whole thing is hilarious. I quote:

"The low hanging fruit, i.e. idiots whose parents paid for prep school, Yale, andthen the Harvard MBA, was there for the taking. These people who were (often) truly not worthy ofthe education they received (or supposedly received) rose to the top of companies such as AIG,Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers and all levels of our government. All of this behavior supportingthe Aristocracy, only ended up making it easier for me to find people stupid enough to take the otherside of my trades. God bless America."

In his letter he touches upon everything from enjoying life, rags on the over privileged, the broken financial system, and gov't in general. He has found insight that I truly want to replicate. Anyways it brightened up my day in what has been a dismal month.

Tiered Certification System

I believe in order to improve the sight there should be a tiered certification system. An example is to give a silver star next to the name of people who were SA over the summer. Also to have icons on user profiles to demonstrate if they work in a BB, work in the buy side or sell side, have gone to a M7 school, etc. This is the next step too show that the user has some credibility to what they are saying. I know anonymity is important so general categories will do.

As this sight is geared towards prospective monkey's I think it would be very beneficial for them to know that they are getting sound advice from monkeys who have already done the internships they seek.

From reading the article it looks like Wells Fargo won't bother to dabble in the investment banking industry. Just means more bloodletting on the street.

There are plenty of useful threads that I would like to store without having to resort to having a million favorites on WSO. Can you please add like a bookmark feature where each user has the ability to bookmark some of their favorite threads so they can go back to it in an easy to use fashion?
