HBS TV Market minute

Do the kids at Harvard really need that chick to get on TV every day and read the headlines to them? Come on. I know they can click on www.wsj.com and figure that crap out on their own without having this chick get on there and fumble around with her words and read the news to them.

and why does it keep getting posted on this site? you would think that if someone has navigated to this site then they are fairly comfortable getting their news on their own online.

does that chick on the market minute show put out? looks like her cans are kinda small from what i can tell, but i would love to be surprised.

Revoked Offers

Why has there been no talk of offers potentially being revoked for people who did internships this summer who were offered (and accepted jobs) on the street. I would assume offers will be revoked. Is there any reason to believe a lot of offers will not be revoked?

Full Time Offer Status at ML or BofA?

So... if you did your summer at BofA or ML and got a full time offer... what are the odds of keeping it?

I would think the groups that BofA is strong in like HC and Debt would be eliminated from ML....

anyone have insight on this?

Immature Summer Analysts

I was a summer associate this summer and I will be coming back to my bank next year. The summer analysts in my group were the most immature, self-important arrogant people I've ever met (who just so happen to have the least knowledge and experience of anyone on the floor).

The full time analysts were amazing. The summers consitently interrupted conversations, blew off assignments given by full time bankers, and just had a general arrogance about them. Not all of them got offers which is good.

To the ones who did get offers and are coming back. Guess who gets to have a say on your bonuses during your stint as an analyst. See you ass holes next year. haha

Its Time to Play the Summer Conversion Rate Game!

So... we are approaching the end of summer intnerships. What do people think about conversion to full time for summer analysts/summer associates. Please, feel free to be bank specific.

I'll start the rumor mill with what I've heard (all but one of these is second hand, FYI)

GS: not telling people until October
BofA:if you match your group and they match you, you're in. otherwise, tough luck
Citi: 50%
MS: maybe not telling people until October
LEH: screwed
UBS: group specific, if you don't suck, you're in
JPM: 50%
MER: group specific, if you don't suck, you're in

Excess Cash Management

How much cash should a company use in a share buyback? Is it a % of cash balance or a % of cash flow or what metric could be used to judge that?

I understand what options are available to a company that has excess cash on their balance sheet. I'm looking specifically at how much cash should a company use to buy back shares.
