real estate IB group

Hi guys and gals,

Got a few questions that I hope to get some answers for. I'm in NYC and just got a FT offer at a BB for their real estate investment banking group. Went to an ivy with a 3.7 gpa. My questions are as follow:

1) how is RE different than other groups (TMT, mining, FIG...etc) in terms of culture and skills and contacts developed?

brand more important then type of work

What are your thoughts wrt the brand of the IB compared to the quality of work that you are given? If given the choice between a BB doing pitchbook/modelling/regular stuff vs a non-BB (but good boutique) doing investments, what's your logic in picking either one?

joining a BB leveraged finance group now

I have an offer from a BB for their leveraged finance group. Is it still worth joining now or should I take something else? My alternative is a job at a MM in their Principal Investments group (kinda like GS PIA but less prestige).

Any advice or comments would be appreciated. thx

PE vs IB

Hi all,

I'm a recent grad. Got offers from a small PE (real estate) and a boutique IB. Can anyone give me shed some light on the pros and cons of each in order to help me decide which one to take?

Thanks a ton. Appreciate your time.

Is a $600 million real estate PE considered big? If not, what's considered a large fund? (aside from the $20 billion KKR, Blackstone, Carlyle).

What's the typical size of a real estate fund?
