IB switching to Research - have an interview with a top 3 firm next week? What do I need to know

Hello,

I have been an analyst at a lower BB for a year now. HAving talked to my mentor and knowing myself, I have decided that a career in Equity research would be better suited ot my skills and interests. I have an interview with a top BB (think GS/MS/Citi) for a research position next week. What type of questions can I expect? Are there a lot of brainteasers? Or a lot of valuation questions? ANy help will be greatly appreciated, as I really want to make the switch, but I am not sure how to adequately prepare for a research interview

2nd year analyst lateral transfer interview tomorrow - any tips?

Hello,

I have been an analyst with a lower BB for the past year. I like banking and I would like to stay in it, but despise my group. I have an interview tomorrow with a less known Asian bank and I would lobe to work for them.

What type of questions should I expect for an IB 2nd year analyst? IS it going to be as technical as PE, or more fit? ANy help will be appreciated. Also, has anyone interviewed with the Asian banks (Nomura, Mitsubishi UFJ etc.) and know what their interviews are like?

Needless to say, thank you for your help

Is UBS going downhill?

So let's review:
- senior bankers leave
- declining profits
- fired previous "hot-shot" CEO

How do you see UBS' progression from here on?

I honestly don't think it's the hours that make analysts look like crap, it is the lifestyle

SO, I have been observing my fellow analysts and I htink that I have come to the conclusion that the reason a lot of them look 30 after 2 years is not the hours, and maybe not even the pressure, but it is the lifestyle. After a week of intensive work, a lot of people do not just settle in for a quiet night at home, but instead choose to go out and get fucking wasted 2-3 nights in a row, staying out till like 4 am and then being hung over for the whole morning.

So, full-timers, what's your living situation like now?

So, I just got done searching for an apt and I got a studio in upper east-side for 1700 a month (430 sq ft). I couldn't find anything for less than 1550 even with a broker. Am I paying too much or is this reasonable?

DLJ Staffing memo

Hey, do any of you have the DLJ staffing memo that said people were expected to work 120 hours a week and it broke down their day and weekend? I used to have it, but I think I have lost it and I want to show it to a friend. It used to be on Vault, but I can't find it anymore

A plea to the members

Dear members,

I am not part of this board's staff, but I would like to make a request. When i first joined this board, it was after I had completed my internship at a lower BB and accepted their offer. At the beginning, this board provided a nice break from the junk cluttered Vault boards. At the beginning, people were receiving valuable advice from real bankers or people who have completed internships. As a result, there were numerous threads thanking the people and success stories of people who used the board to get offers.
