Anyone know if these guys are a REAL PE shop or if they are some sort of PE related serivce firm? Their website is somewhat vague and misleading.....makes me think that they are not the real deal.....

Hey guys, one opportunity i am interviewing is in a large FI firm, one of the larkets 10 or so.

How might this compare to, say, working in equity research as an associate/younger analyst at a BB?

Any thoughts?

Have I stumbled over a goldmine or is this nothing special.....thanks guys, FI is REALLY not my area of expertise!

Looking for other firms (i.e. besides Piper) that do good research

in the chemical and alternative energy sectors.

UBS looks like they have a trazillion openings in ER, but I don't know if they are any good.....

who is good in these sectors? I'm not really referring to pharma, more big chem like DOW, BASF, or oil and energy, and especially the emerging industry of alternative energy (think biodiesel, ethanol, PV, etc.)

What would be the salary and bonus be like at piper jaffray as an equity research associate?

Bear in mind, I do have 4 applicable years of industry experience, and I already make good money (a little over 70).

I saw a number in the 75-100 range via the recruiter's website, but I could not figure out whether that uncluded a bonus or not.

Let me know your take on it....

ALternative Energy Equity Analyst Associate

Hey everyone. I am a 27 yr old chem engineer who has been working within a F500 chem producer as an energy and chem analyst for a few years. What I mean is that I study the energy and chem markets in support of our buy and sell activities.

I have also developed a fairly simplistic NG hedge program which has taken off quite well.

In order to give my company an edge in terms of cost reduction and risk avoidance, I have also been researching alternative energy over the course of the past year. (think solar, alternative fuels, etc.)

Is that guy Dan Bush finally gone??
