BB to small PE?

Hi all, just want to seek your take on my friend's situation. This is someone with one year of BB i-banking experience but has unfortu been laid off - should he go into a small PE that specializes in infrastructure, or another i bank, but risk another round of cuts...? Thanks!

brokerage firms vs universal bank

just curious about the prospects of working in ibd at ibank - would it be better off to go with a brokerage firm (your MS/ML) with strong distribution abilities or universal bank (your JPM etc) that can use their balance sheets and get deals. I'm only talking about their deal flows etc and hold all the other stuff like comps etc constant. thx

just curious if anyone here started working in feb/mar rather than the usual main june/july starts..?
- how does your firm treat your status - do you have to be a first year analyst for 18 months just so that you are on par with everyone else
- bonus issues, do you have to wait 18 months to get bonus?
thx

help: sign on/relocation bonus

my bb in hk doesn't seem to have the 10k sign on/relocation bonus, is anyone else in same situation?
Anyone knows how I can negotiate it? (having already accepted this offer and rejected another better paying one, does it mean I have no leverage to negotiate?) thanks.
