Math for MBA?

This is due to some comments I saw in a different thread.

Do you need to have taken a minimum math requirement in undergrad to have a chance at the top MBAs? I've looked at a few of the websites (Harvard, Stanford, Tuck, Columbia) and don't recall having come across this. But a number of people here seem to think you need to have done some calc to stand a chance. I did a bit of calc in college and AB Calc in high school but nothing of note. Isn't a strong GMAT score and work experience in something sort-of-numerical enough?

As reference: I have a bachelor's and a masters, both from targets, and work in S&T. But I have a view to do an MBA as a career change towards consulting or public finance type work.

The Math/Quant Delusion

I'm in S&T.

Can people who are working comment on this for me please. Do you actually use math on a regular basis? The math I use consists of grabbing a calculator or doing something in Excel. More often than not I just run sheets/models that someone in structuring and the quant team created.

Analysts and dating

Why are so many analysts in relationships? Why would you start a new life in a new, big city and bring your boring boyfriend/girlfriend from college with you? At least half of my analyst class are in serious relationships.

Intra-Firm hookup

I met a hot guy at a bar the other night. He's really hot and wanted to take me home, but I don't hop into bed with guys I've just met. But we're probably gonna meet up again soon, we're still talking and whatnot. I don't really wanna date him, just think he's sexy and mildly interesting.

But...he works at the same company. It's a big firm, and he's in a different division. But it's close enough that I'm a little concerned. I start as an analyst soon and don't want to have any reputation issues.

Thirty-four first-year business graduate students at Duke University cheated on a take-home final exam, a judicial board has found, in what officials called the most widespread cheating episode in the business school’s history.

Guys: Social Life for a Female Banker

So I'm starting as a front office analyst in a few months. I definitely don't want to date/hook up with anyone on my team, or even in my division if I can avoid it. However I have met some of the guys I'll be working with and there are definitely a few I would like to get to know (hehehe).

So can I flirt with and possibly date/hook up with a guy at work without getting a reputation or having rumors flying around? I figure that since there are a small number of attractive women in the front office that people would be more likely to talk if they got with one.

Private Members Clubs, London

I'm thinking of joining one. Not one for old, stodgy men but one with young professionals and a good social atmostphere. Any ideas? Also, I want a club with actual services, not just a nightclub.

Have offer; interest from another bank

I have an offer at a European bank in London. It's not BB, but the desk I got hired to is top 3 in Europe and one of the bank's biggest revenue earners. I'm pretty happy with the company and the job offer.

I recently met someone from an American bank, that doesn't have as strong a reputation in my area, but has a bigger name and global presence. He told me flatout that he knows there are a few vacancies at the desk at his firm and gave me his card. He asked if I'd be willing to meet with him and some of his colleagues. I told him I'd already taken an offer, but he said a meeting isn't a commitment.

Dual Degree - HEC/Stern

Does anyone know about this program? MBA for me is far off in the future, but I really need to learn French to near fluency for my career goals, so HEC and Insead would be serious considerations.

I know Insead as a business school, but HEC was ranked #1 for European MBAs by the FT. Insead has more of a name as well. But I was wondering if the fact that at HEC I could get an MBA from both HEC and Stern in 2 years would make that a stronger choice in terms of contacts and getting recognition in the US (where I'm from).
