Prop vs. Sell-side analyst position

Which do you people think is a better starting ground for first-year analysts? Assuming that the Fixed Income prop-trading role is attainable, versus that or research/trading on a sell-side desk at the same bank, which is a better learning experience?

My take: Sell-side offers a better initial experience, analyzing trading flows and technicals, as well as the ability to take risk.

Thoughts?

Carbon Emissions

Just was wondering what people thought of this area in Trading. I'm looking to join groups in a month or so, and this is near the top of my list (in London, of course, if it even is hiring, which I doubt). Any thoughts?

p.s. to spike the punch a bit, some people say it's what the CDS market was 7 or 8 years ago, in terms of potential and growth...

Structured EM trading

Hi, can anyone give me background on this product? I summered in Structured Credit, and loved it, but would hopefully like to get into EM since spreads appear more mispriced. Is this a fast growing product? thx
