Roommate

Anyone on here who likes to drink beer, meet (fuck) girls, listen to country music, watch sports, and get their ass kicked in beer pong want to consider looking for a 2 bedroom apt in manhattan together? I know it might be a weird request to a board of strangers, but I get along with most people and it would be real lonely living alone. Thinking Murray Hill, Gramercy, Midtown with a June 1 (flexible) move-in (I'm starting FT IBD in Midtown in July).

Poor Markets' Effects on M&A?

How will weakness in the near-term affect the current M&A wave? With an undervalued stock, strategics don't have the over-valued currency for stock-swaps, but will corporations' large cash reserves mitigate this, ie. more M&A done as cash deals to pick up companies at better valuations?

Also, what's everyone's take on the credit crunch in mortgages flowing to other credit markets. Are we going to see a big LBO blowup, and if so, which one?

Myth of the exploding offer

I had an exploding FT IBD offer from a top 5 BB in NYC from last fall, and I was supposed to make a decision by Nov 1st. I spoke with a receptionist in HR with the bank before the Nov 1st deadline and politely declined the offer for one that I thought was a better fit. I get a call last Thursday (3 and half months after the offer supposedly exploded) from a different HR contact from the bank curious if I had made up my mind yet - with absolutely no correspondence since the October Superday except for my phone call declining the offer.

What do you read every week?

CURRENT BANKERS - What substantive publications/blogs/newsletters do you read on a regular basis to stay apprised of goings on in the i-banking world? Is this list comprehensive? Or would getting through all of these simply be too much because of time restraints?

WSJ (possibly FT too)
NY Times DealBook
2007 Analysts: Plans for Your Last Semester in College?

For those graduating this spring and starting in IB in summer, I want to hear your plans for your last semester in college. Plan to let your grades slide to the shitter? Drunk 7 nights a week? 3 week spring break? Or do you plan to take the high-road: Brush up on your valuation and Excel skills? Take the GMAT or CFA1? Nose to the grindstone to keep that GPA up for MBA?

As for me, I'll be working full-time to fund my post-graduation pre-training month-long island hopping/scuba diving trip, as well as to afford the $14K+ it's going to cost for first/security/broker-fee in Gramercy ($8500), full analyst attire ($2000), and an apartment full of Ikea furniture ($3500).

What's a top VC looking for?

Greenhill & Co Question

Anyone familiar with Greenhill? They are working on some monster deals with the LSE/Nasdaq mandate, Abbot Labs/Kos Pharma, and Visa (rolling up USA, CDA, and INTL) - how does this translate to quality of life issues (end of year bonus, working hours & flexibility, relevancy of first year analyst duties?) How do you see them comparing to others in their space, ie. Evercore, Gleacher, Lazard, etc.?
