Tax Refunds

Say you worked over summer 2007 at a BB, made some coin. A tax refund may be in order b/c tax was paid assuming a certain an income threshold that may not have been met.

Where to begin? Any deadlines to keep in mind?

Lots of talk about Stan O'Neal getting the axe... would a CEO change in general have a negative effect on IBD? Citi, Bear also had grumblings earlier this yr, this seems to have more teeth. Thoughts?

Is there any way to guard against over-reliance on a mathematical model... seems to be too many hedge funds blowing up if they're so foolproof.

I just posted this in another thread, but I think it will be useful for some readers. This was in response to two candidates - one with a 3.98 from North Dakota State, and another person with a 3.8 non-target GPA.

I think this topic has been beaten to death. If you think a great GPA alone will be the deciding factor in you are wrong.

In a standard 8-10 week BB Summer IBD program, is there an intial training program? If so, is that included in the 10 weeks, or done before the "start date".

Linking the financial statements

I know the setup of financial statements and their general structure (income statement, bal sheet, CF stmt)...

On interviews, linking the statements is important - What resources would you use to solidify specific I-banking accounting skills? - I've heard that accounting textbooks are a good bet, but they're full of so much clutter non-applicable info... please sound off.
