How to prep for HF interviews?

Have an interview with a distressed/merger arbitrage/convertible arbitrage fund. How should I prepare?

Accounting, finance and modeling?

Studying up on those strategies?

Generating an investment thesis?

Studying up on my deal experience?

Obviously would love to do all of them, but with the limited time I have, need to focus.

How is the role of the Pre-MBA associate different in PE versus HF?

It seems both jobs entail doing diligence and financial modeling. What choose one over the other? It seems a lot of these HF don't participate in active trading, but just long-term investing so the role of the pre-MBA associate would be very similar to that of a PE associate right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Trading Derivatives

What are some reputable shops for trading derivatives (options, futures, etc)? Is this area very quantitative? Highest level of math I've taken is calculus...

I'm an analyst in IBD looking to move to the trading side. Just trying to collect more information.

To trade derivatives, are the options better at HF or at prop desks in a BB?

Who's the best banker on the street (i.e. if you were a new analyst and you had the opportunity to be a single banker's protege, who would you choose)?

Moelis, Effron, Perella, Mahmood, Boutros, Wasserstein, Grimes, etc?
