TEXAS: MPA program

Okay Longhorns I need your thoughts/opinions.

I'm exploring the idea of going back to school and getting my masters in accounting and needless to say I am interested in UT's MPA program. I was wondering if any of you know exaclty how difficult it is to get into this program and what qualifications make for a competative candidate.

Trading at Energy Company

For those of you have been through the process, what is the best way to prepare for a Trading interview at one of the large energy companies (Exxon, BP, Shell, etc.)

Are the interviews as technical as S&T interviews at the banks? If you can give some pointers on what resources to use, topics to look over, points to hit on during the interview and such I would appreciate it. Thanks

CFA and applying to BSchool

Does having a CFA improve your chances at a top BSchool, or is it too common among those applying, thus not adding too much of a benefit?

I am taking Level 1 in December and I am NOT doing it in hopes that it will get me into a good MBA program down the road, but it would be nice to know that it could help the chances even more (given that I pass all 3 of course).

Calyon Securities

I have heard mixed reviews about Calyons interview process. From a previous thread here, it was said that they focus a lot on the quants (being a French bank). Then on Vault, I think it was, someone mentioned that the interviews were pretty laid back and more focused on WHY you want to do trading and what your goals are.

Summer Grads

What is recruiting like in the fall for summer graduates? Do banks look down upon that since you are not going to be a student the remainder of the year until you start? Also, what type of jobs do you pick up between the beginning of fall and the end of spring, right before you start working?

Consideration of college progression

I tried searching for the answer first but couldnt come up with anything conclusive. So here it is: Do Top MBA programs look solely at the final GPA of a candidate, or do they look for progression? Possibly some schools focus on the applicants last two years of undergraduate course work?

Upon submission of your transcript, the company does not like your performance in certain classes? My first couple semesters in college I was irresposible, I will admit that (I was more worried about playing club rugby and partying). I did poorly (think 2.0) in several of my classes, unfortunately several being my math courses.

After Graduation

I will be graduating this May, and have had a couple I-banking interviews. None of them have turned into full time offers, and being from a non-target we only had those few banks come on campus. I am determined to get into the securities industry (IBD, S&T, ER, etc.), even if it takes some time.
