Real Estate Investment Banking Interview help

hi. i have an upcoming interview with a MM real estate investment bank. i was wondering how best to prepare. i couldn't really find any material on real estate DCFs on the internet. should i be prepared for standard finance/technical questions or anything unusual geared toward real estate? what's the best way to get briefed on the industry?

thanks

how does interest expense run through the balance sheets?

My friend got this during his final round interview. I'm not sure what the answer is other than through the income statement (subtracting it before taxes). Thanks

Litigation vs. Management Consulting

hey guys... i need some help here choosing between two offers. one is with a top litigation/economic consulting firm such as NERA/Analysis Group, and one is with the MBBs. I'm trying to choose between the two.

Granted, the MBB seems to be more prestigious, but I have an interest in getting an MBA or JD or combination after two years and am interested in the work litigation consulting entails. Would taking an offer from a litigation consulting firm hurt me? How are such firms perceived? The litigation firm I am currently considering has amazing b-school and law-school placement with a huge percent going to hbs or stanford (i'm wondering if its even better than mbb). Given that i might want to pursue law, does it make sense? also, if i ever want to do p/e in the future, would going to a litigation firm severely limit that opportunity? thanks

Principal vs. Prop Trading

Is there any difference between the two? If someone is on a principal desk, isn't that the same as being on a prop desk? I hear the two phrases used often and was wondering if they were interchangeable. Thanks.

Which desk to pick?

I'm going to be a summer analyst at a Swiss bulge bracket (CS/UBS). I need help choosing between desks. I got along with two of the desks really well; commodities and reinsurance. Does anyone have any insight between the two, particularly reinsurance. I heard that it was the most profitable division at my bank last year. Is the market going to be as big as people predict?

Distressed Debt vs. Bank Loan Distressed Debt

Hi,
Is there a difference between the two? Would starting out on one desk vs the other make a significant difference? These are both prop investing desks by the way.

Thanks.

Uhh... Is this cutting it too close?

I was offered first rounds for two separate divisions a BB for an on campus interview, except for one of them there I kinda waited to register. NOw there is only one spot left. That spot happens ot be right in front of the other interview. For example, my ibd interview was set at 9:30, but if I choose to take the s&t interview, it would be at 9:00.

Wearing watch to interviews

I think it's stupid but I've heard that some interviewers are extremely picky about not wearing watches. Its apparently conservative and formal to wear a nice wristwatch to let people know you are conscious of time. I could buy one, but is it worth it?

Is he a lock-in for all first rounds?

I have a friend who is pretty confident/cocky if you ask me. He's basically saying to not sweat it since both he and I have decent "stats" and go to target schools. All the banks coming to us on campus should basically grant us an interview...
