Back to WSO after a "hiatus"

Some of the members who've been here longer probably remember me. Anyways, I just figured I'd stop in and tell everyone how things are going and why I'm not on here much.

I wish I could say I'm so busy at my top-tier internship that I don't have time for WSO, but that's not the case.

I didn't get an ibanking based internship and every single person I've tried networking with hasn't helped me whatsoever aside from some words of wisdom here and there (that I do appreciate). Coming from a non-target, with this market, fucking sucks. The fact that my GPA is currently a "paltry" 3.1 right now. I used to have a 3.5 (which is average at best for this occupation anyways) and semester by semester my GPA has fallen due to me hating my school more and more, losing faith, losing motivation and so forth...

Shitty finance class textbook update: 1st exam

I got an 88%, maybe I should listen to that one VA guy who said I should look at other job opportunities. *non-pretentious sarcasm*

That was one hell of an exhausting exam, at least now I know how to study using a deplroable book.

Post the book, and a short summary of the book and how it affected you.

Rant: Why is HR so inept?

I got a call and it went like this:

me: Hello?
HR:Hi, is this *****?
me: Yes.
HR: I'm calling because you requested info about our internship program?
me: Yes, may I ask what firm you are?
HR: What do you mean?
me: Uh... the firm you work for?
HR: This is ***** (Bulge Bracket). (Says it in a very condescending voice).
me: Oh alright, yes I'm interested blah blah.

Rant: fuck my finance textbook

I am a long time forum member, and over the year+ I've been here, I've definitely learned a few things about finance. Now I'm finally taking finance courses at my school. Well... I can't understand the book for shit. I go to the questions section, and basically off what I learned myself/WSO was able to do most of them.

HF internship question in regards to other sectors of wall st

I'm looking at internships and I may possibly get one with a HF. They said they will not hire me full-time. I know this to be 100% for two reasons:
1. They said so.
2. I'm a soph anyways.

My question is will this boost my chances of internships for junior year when it counts? Specifically PE, but IBD as well?

Internship at a BB HR dept?

Will an HR internship at a bulge bracket be of any benefit to me? (soph at a non/semi-target).

Will it help me get my foot in the door and set me up for an IBD internship junior year?

And what would I do there?

I'm looking how they compare, their rankings, and what their specific strengths are. Like GS has M&A, what are each of these banks' strengths and weaknesses.

Experiences, gripes, praises, basically anything in-depth, useful, or stuff that you could only know from working/interning their is appreciated.
