Hi,

Imagine you are at your desk working on a pitch.. the phone rings and you get the call, someone says " Hi my name is Alison Donaldson, I am headhunter from XXX and I am calling you for a position at XXX, I thought you might be interested?"

How do you deal with this situation? Your associates are sitting near you in the cubicle..

Everybody wants the best group at each BB. I read about

GS TMT
MS M&A
CS Levfin
JPM Levfin
UBS Healthcare
GS FIG

What are the disadvantages of the top groups?

To start GS TMT:

Technology companies: Deals would be very small usually 1 bn US$ would be about the maximum in general, you probably won't be working on deals such as P&G acquires Gilette about 60 US$ bn!

Media: Not much activity and small deal size

Hi,

In many posts returning topics are which groups/divisions are top notch..

Sometimes analysts/associates/vp's leave because of the hours or whatever reason..

These spots obviously have to be filled...

How can one change group/division?

e.g. IBD FIG to IBD TMT, IBD Industrial to IBD M&A execution, PWM to IBD, Equity Research to IBD Leveraged finance etc...

Is it correct that M&A execution and Lev fin product teams never pitch only execute? It is great never to have to make one single company profile..

How come the bonus is as high as in coverage teams, since these product teams only execute and don't get the deal in to the bank...

Some banks have separated M&A product teams such as JPM/ML/Citi.

Other banks such as GS/Lazard don't...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of these different organizational structure models?
