several people from my firm are in LinkedIn. Some are analysts-associates (so I can add them freely) but some other are senior. Is it too douchey to add them? (ps: some of them are people outside my group, but I've had the chance to talk to them 2-3 times in my tenure. Most important, I'm not a junior at school so I'm thinking it will be a good way for them to remember my existence when recruitmen

Asset Swap-CDS arbitrage relationship

Can anybody explain the arbitrage relationship between the Asset Swap and CDS market? When I asked I was told that "CDS=Asset Swap with an interest rate hedge, where the asset swap is a swap of the bond for cash in the repo market"

what do you think for your firm??????it's quite embarassing to have another IBank (i.e. ML) seize the collateral on your trades...it's like you are a small desperate HF...anyway...this news was the big market mover today....

Is it useful to read research reports?will I learn anything useful by reading them?Or they are just intended for "Belgian Dentists"?I mean, my time is limited and precious so should this be a priority when I'm on the desk as an intern and things are quiet?
I found the "technical reports" i've read so far (not the dailys, weeklys etc; e.g. Credit Derivatives Handbook) a bit naive...not too much ma

1. DON'T LOOK NEEDY!!!
2.be patient and spontaneous (i.e. when you speak to somebody don't sound like you've pressed the "play" button on a cd player. be prepared but do not just recite a poem...)

i'm a bit confused...
if you need to contact the MD of the group you are going to work with (but you haven't started working for him yet) for some administrative issue, how would you start your e-mail?
"hello, bla bla bla"
or
"Dear Mr. XXX,...bla bla bla"
He's a bit old but another analyst called him with his first name when I was there for the interviews, so I'm confused whether to be very formal or "relaxed"...
