I am currently finishing up my first year at a top BB in HY research and am looking to make the move to a HF ($5+bn), preferably distressed. I am working with GloCap but was wondering what other headhunters are out there that are good and how to contact them.

Trading Scene in A Good Year (Russel Crowe)--wtf is going on

a buddy told me to watch these scene yesterday bc he didnt know what was going on. they show crowe in what looks like a sell side trading floor (trading floor setup lots of people sitting down etc). when crowe tells his trader to start buying, the entire floor goes into a frenzy and everyone stands up, starts screaming and using all sorts of hand motions like they are on the floor of an exchange.

Distressed Debt trading vs Distressed HF

i am currently working at a top 5 BB in S&T and have the opportunity to move onto the distressed debt trading desk (at the same BB) in the next month or two. I also have several potential opportunities at Distressed HFs ($10+bn AUM). Trying to figure out what would be the better career option. Clearly there is no clear cut answer but wonder what people's opinions are.

Work on Sell Side before Buy Side

I am currently in HY research at a top 5 BB, long term i want to work at a fundamental distressed HF. theres always talk of "i want to work for a few years on the sell side before going buy side". what is the rationalization here? why not go over to a top fund if you get the opportunity earlier?

have an interview going up with harbinger distressed. its for a junior analyst position to work directly with a senior analyst. ive been working for 8 months in HY research at a top 5 BB.

was told 1 interview will be fit other will be technical and mostly about modeling.

has anyone been through an interview with them?
