I recently started as a sales analyst on the trading floor at a BB firm. Having no prior finance experience nor internships during undergrad i'm beginning to rethink if i see myself having a future with this role.

Anybody have any good websites where you can access free information on hedge funds with ranking without having to pay $800 a year for a subscription to alpha magazine? looking to compare different ones on the basis of strategy, size, etc...

Sales analyst (S&T) -----> PE?

Is it possible to make the jump as a sales analyst (S&T) to PE. My bank (top BB) has a strong PE arm... by what means would you guys say the chances be greatest: moving internally or post-MBA?

Does anyone know the perks involved with S&T full-time analysts since all I hear about are from the peeps in IB? I know that hours are around 6-7 so does that mean you get a meal allowance, black car service, blackberry, etc....???

I am looking to rent a room in a luxury high rise rental and was wondering if anyone has any availabilities or is looking to join me in my apartment search. I will begin training as a full time analyst this July at Goldman. I prefer to live in a modern high rise building located in either midtown or downtown. MBA vs. MFE

In comparing the MBA and the Masters in Financial Engineering which one of the two will provide higher chances of placement into a front office trading position (not as a quant)? Also, which program will enable you to sustain a competitive advantage as a trader? Any thought?

Any advice/information will be greatly appreciated...

One of my close relatives is a senior trader at a top BB bank (10+ years) and he talked me into pursuing a trading career. He forwarded my resume to the recruiter and she sent me a standard email telling me to apply online and wait to be contacted. After hearing no response, I contacted her a week later and she said that she is going over a possible interview date for me. I call back a few days later and she said that they need to interview students from target schools first before they can interview me for the summer position and that she has my resume if she decides to contact me. Is this an indirect rejection? I believe I somewhat qualify for the position...engineering major, 3.82 GPA, GRE Quant:800, however, I am from a non target school (UC Irvine). Is this a result of not being from a target school? Or is it an internal issue with the recruiter?
